Solar Rebate Program

Austin Energy's Solar Rebate Program helps you implement solar technology in your home.  The program offers rebates that help offset the cost of a solar photo voltaic electric system.  Austin Energy offers a solar rebate at $4.50 per watt which will pay between 45%-75% of the cost of installation of a solar system.  Rebate applicants must follow the following guidelines:
  • Applicants must use a Registered Solar Installer from the Austin Energy Participating Company List.
  • Only eligible solar system modules qualify for rebates under the Austin Energy program.
  • All solar systems installed must carry a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer and installer.
  • All solar systems must be interconnected, at customer's expense, to Austin Energy's electrical grid.
  • Applicant must be an Austin Energy electric customer to participate.
  • The requested rebate amount will be calculated as: [number of PV modules] x [STC rating per module (watts)] x [inverter efficiency] x [$4.50/W or $6.25/W depending upon whether the PV is made locally within the Austin electric service area].
  • Rebates for residential customers are capped at 80% of customer invoiced cost or $13,500, which ever is less.
  • Customers have the option to assign the rebate directly to the PV system installer.
