Made In America

It may seem strange to you that an Architect refers to his services as ...

"Made in America"

As with all businesses, Architects and Engineers, have been outsourcing their production.  A week does not go by that we do not get advertisements from China and India for CAD, 3D, and rendering services.

We refuse to profit at the expense of you our clients and the overall U.S. economy.

Outsourcing damages the U.S. economy and future generations of Americans.

"Buying China"

As individuals we have made the commitment to not buy Chinese goods (we have been avoiding Chinese products for over four years).  This includes everything;  food, clothing (we spend hours looking for goods made anywhere but China), building supplies and technology.  Of course there are some products that are unavoidable.

In particular, outsourcing or buying China;

  • Damages the environment
  • Is not Humanitarian
  • Supports the Chinese Military
  • Supports the invasion of Tibet

Damages the environnment - industry in China and the Chinese Government does not care about the environment, they are heavily polluting their own country, making the water and food inedible, the air unbreathable.  They are poisoning hundreds of thousands of their own people.  Now they are poisoning the U.S. consumer.  In addtion, China builds two coal fired electric plants every week.

Is not Humanitarian - Most Chinese goods are produced in near sweatshop conditions.  Factory employees are paid pennies.  In addition, economic growth in the cities is destroying the rural culture that has flourished in China for thousands of years.   The wealth gap between the rising middle-class of China and the other 800 million Chinese is huge.

Supports the Chinese Military - A considerable amount of Chinese goods are produced in state run enterprises.  These factories directly support the military buildup of  China.  And at some point in the future will be a direct threat to the U.S.

Supports the invasion of Tibet - The Chinese Government invaded a sovereign nation and usurped the rightful government of Tibet.  For the last fifty years the Chinese Government has been destroying the Tibetan environment, its culture, its religion, and its language.  For the sole purpose of stealing its mineral wealth and providing land for the unsustainable Chinese population growth.

(Some people might consider the previous comments racist or bigoted.  We are neither. It is just the reality of the world we live in.)
